美国电影学院申请「申请美国电影院校这些特殊要求一定不能忽视」

众所周知，在申请美国电影院校的时候，我们需要提供语言成绩和作品集这些基本材料，但是很多学校在这些基本材料外还有一些不被大家所熟知的小要求，例如提交video essay，这类小要求在申请当中也起到了非常关键性的作用。

video essay，即以录制视频的方式介绍自己，以及回答学校提出的问题。从招生官的角度来说，虽然已经有学生在校读书成绩单、托福分数、雅思分数等佐证，但他们还是希望看到申请者在镜头前，展现他们的英文能力、沟通技巧及应变的能力。

在新的考核方式下，如何做出一份吸引招生官眼球的视频就非常重要了。建议同学们要将video essay当成面试一样准备，事前一定要反复练习！提前把学校面试的标准问题练习过多次，不论是why Master，why XX school，why film，why now等问题，都要很熟悉如何应答。

准备video essay还有一大重点，就是掌握时间长短。很多同学们准备面试前，都习惯写下很长的手稿，再试着背诵出来。可是video essay的回答时间通常只有几分钟，所以你应该提炼精华，记下几个重点，有代表性的例子，只看关键词也知道自己要讲什么。多多练习，感受一下一分钟的长短，也留意自己说话的速度。

最后要注意自己的服装仪容、说话时的神态，尤其是眼神要真诚地看着招生官，还有网络及电脑面试的基本准备，这里就不再特别提醒了。

We will not be judging the production value of this film; we encourage applicants to use what is readily available to them (i.e. cellphones or computers). We are not looking for polished/edited videos; it is meant to be a short video where you show us and tell us something about yourself that we cannot get from other aspects of your application.

We are primarily looking for your strengths at conveying a story visually and for evidence of your creativity rather than your technical abilities.

Direct an original short moving image project for the AFI Conservatory on the topic of“a shift in perspective.” The project should be no longer than 5 minutes in length and can be shot on your cell phone. We are interested in seeing your storytelling skills. Creativity is key here – not production value. Please consider health and safety concerns as you approach this prompt. Compelling stories can still be told within these limited conditions, and evaluations will be made in this spirit of appreciating the production value (and performance) limitations. This exercise does not require you to spend any money or have a large production value so you may use your cell phone for the project, if you wish. The project should be in English or be subtitled in English.
